Antares New Play Contest

Grand Prize:

• $550.
• Staged Reading of the Winning Play in 2010
• Press releases announcing the winner and the staged reading circulated to the media (value $5K)

The top five finalist’s names will be published on this web site.

There is no entry fee.

Antares Ensemble is now accepting submissions by mail.

Guidelines:

1. This contest is for plays in the English language and 

submissions are accepted from playwrights worldwide. 

2. Only original, unpublished full-length plays may be submitted. Translations, musicals, and children's plays are not accepted. 

3. Plays that have had professional and/or amateur productions or won awards are not eligible.  Previous staged readings for the purpose of workshopping the play are OK.

4. Submit two copies of the manuscript as follows: 

A.  The title page showing the play's title and your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and page count.

B.  The second title page listing the title of the play; a 1-2 paragraph synopsis; a list of characters followed with a list of acts and scenes.  

C.   The play

D.   A brief bio (optional)

5. Plays must be typed in English, numbered and in standard professional play format.

6. Playwrights may submit only one play for consideration. 

7. By submitting the manuscript to the Antares New Play Contest, Playwright agrees that Antares Ensemble will have exclusive rights to produce the winning play and/or a reading of the play during the year 2010.

8. Due to the great volume of submissions we have extended our date to announce the winner to April 7, 2010.

Submissions for the competition must be postmarked no later than December 2, 2009. 

Do not send the only copy of your work as manuscripts cannot be returned. 

If you would like to know that we have received your manuscript please include a stamped, self-addressed postcard. You may also include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your submission to be informed of the contest results by June 2010.
